Terms & Conditions
Version 2026-08-03 · last updated 3 August 2026
1. What this is
OUTPOST is a free, browser-based multiplayer strategy game operated by the OUTPOST operator (“we”). By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account.
The game is in alpha. It will contain bugs, balance will change, and features may be added or removed without notice.
2. Your account
- You must be 16 or older to create an account.
- One account per person. We verify an email address and a phone number once at registration, and that pairing is what enforces this. Multiple accounts controlled by the same person (“multi-accounting”) is the one form of cheating that most damages a shared world, and it is grounds for removing every account involved.
- You are responsible for keeping access to your phone and email. Anyone who can receive your SMS code can sign in as you.
- Accounts are personal. Do not sell, share, or transfer them.
3. Fair play
These are the things that will get an account suspended or removed:
- Running more than one account, or playing someone else’s account for them.
- Automating play — bots, scripts, or tools that act on your behalf. The game’s own AI villages are clearly marked and bound by the same rules as you.
- Exploiting a bug rather than reporting it. Reporting one is welcome.
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or spam in chat or village names.
- Attempting to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
We may remove content, reset state, suspend an account, or refuse service. Where a decision is not obvious, we will say why.
4. Seasons and the loss of progress
OUTPOST is played in seasons. A world runs for a fixed period and then ends. When it ends, the villages, armies, research and resources in it stop existing. This is deliberate: a permanent world advantages whoever started earliest and shuts out everyone who joins later.
Nothing you build is permanent, and nothing you buy carries a guarantee of lasting beyond the season it was bought in.
5. Gems and payments
Gems are a virtual in-game item with no monetary value. They cannot be exchanged for money, transferred between accounts, or redeemed outside the game.
Gems buy time, never power. They shorten a build, research or training timer that is already running. They cannot buy resources, soldiers, generals, warrants, combat bonuses, or progress toward winning a season. This is a design commitment, not a temporary state.
- If you are in the EU/EEA you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal on digital purchases. By asking us to deliver gems immediately you agree that this right is lost once they are credited.
- Unused gems are not refunded when a season ends or an account is closed.
- If an account is removed for breaching section 3, unused gems are forfeited.
Purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
6. Availability
The service is provided as is, with no guarantee of uptime or of data preservation. We may take it down for maintenance, or permanently, and will give reasonable notice where we can. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you write in chat and in names. You grant us the licence needed to store and display it inside the game. Do not post anything you do not have the right to post.
8. Ending it
You may delete your account at any time — see Privacy & GDPR for how, and what happens to your data. We may close an account that breaches these terms.
9. Changes
We will update these terms as the game changes. The version is recorded against your account when you accept it, so a material change can be identified and re-accepted.
10. Law
These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the mandatory law of your own country of residence, and you may bring proceedings there.
Contact
Alpha notice. These terms were drafted to describe the game accurately, but they have not been reviewed by a lawyer. Before OUTPOST is opened beyond a closed test — and certainly before gem sales are switched on — they should be checked by someone qualified, and the operator’s registered legal entity and address filled in.
